Dopo una banale lite domestica, una fredda domenica sera, lo scrittore Tomas vaga senza meta nella periferia della città in cui vive, quando improvvisamente la sua macchina si scontra con una slitta che sta scendendo dal pendio sulla strada. Tomas non ha colpa dell`uccisione del ragazzino che era sopra la slitta, eppure la sua vita da quel momento entra in crisi, ponendo a lui, alla famiglia del bambino, alla sua, una serie di domande a cui è difficile trovare una risposta....
